Institute of Health) to call a halt to construction until the
environmental reviews are complete and stating their opposition in
princilple to BSL4 labs in densely populated areas. Speakers will be
limited to three minutes. Essentially a big turnout is wanted with
people talking about how dangerous the lab is and how crazy to put it in

*Apr 19, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM SOMERVILLE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE BIO-WEAPONS*
The Committee son Public Health and Safety of the Somerville Board of
Aldermen will conduct a piblic hearing to discuss the BSL 4, Bio-Weapons
Lab that Boston University is building near Boston Medical Center. We
are concerned about the risks of building this lab in a densely
populated area, and of its potential effects on surronding communities.
This dangerous lab will involve work on incurable diseases such as
anthrax,m Ebola and hemorrhagic fever. An accidental release of deadly
pathogens, contact with infected lab workers or the laboratory becoming
a target of a terrorist attack can affect our communities as well as the
immediately adjacent Roxbury/South End neighborhood. SMUJP is asking the
Aldermen to sign on to a resolution calling for the Nationalp Institute
of Health to halt construction of the biolab until a more adequate
environmental impact review, ordered by the courts, is completed. Please
join us at the Public Hearing and give testimony at the meeting about
the impact of the Bio-lac on our community. You can sign up when you get
to the meeting. There is a three minute limit on test4imony.
