Microcredit, GMOs and the disappearance of the bees. - A presentation by
Michael Tew
Location: The Convergence Center Time: 7:00 PM
Following the presentation which will take about an hour there will be a
question and answer session that goes until 9:00 PM or until everyones
questions are answered, whichever comes first.
Synopsis: A twenty minute audio presentation - One Day in 1988, followed by
a short history of Monsanto and microcredit, and ending with a discussion of
how to respond the threat posed by the rapid disappearance of the honey
bees. About 25% of all the honey bees in the world have disappeared in the
last three months. This situation has rapidly escalated and solving this
problem is now quite possibly the highest priority for all those who have an
interest in the survival of the human species. Michael Tew will describe
the campaign for a world-wide moratorium on GMO planting, and invite
participation from those assembled.
Michael Tew has been working in microcredit for twenty-two years. In 1987
Michael, as Legislative Director of RESULTS, authored the original
microcredit legislation and managed the campaign to have that bill become
law. This effort was the principle force behind microcredit expansion; from
1 million participants in 1980, to the 100 million families who participate
today.
This presentation will be repeated the following day, Wednesday, May 9 2007.
Location and time to be announced.
Peace
Michael Tew (Formerly Michael J Rigby)
