August 18 at 10:30AM, 12:20 PM Zafiros:Music From The Edge of Time* This 
film by Lorenzo De Stefano (2007, 79 minutes.) Againist the back drop of 
the Bay of Pigs invasion and the Cuban Missile Crisis, two youths from 
the tough musical district of Cayo Hueso decide to form a vocal group. 
To those whose lives they briefly touched , the Zafiros are legends.A 
musical phenomenon molded by their time and place, Los Zafiros (the 
Sapphires) caused a sensation on Havana and beyond throut the 69s and 
into the early 70s.Though they enjoyed international acclaim. touring 
widely throughout Europe, Los Zafiros remained in relative obscurity 
throughout the US as a result of the political climate of the cold war. 
The film features the perspectives of numerous family members in Havana 
and Miami, international musicoligists and musical colleagues of the

HAZARD* Come to a discussion of the Level 4 "Biodefense" Laboratory that 
Boston University is building across the street from Boston Medical 
Center. When finished, the laboratory will experiment with the most 
deadly organisms in the world, for which there is no known cure. 
Laboratory researchers may combi9ne and engineer the organisms to make 
them even deadlier and more contagious. Roxbury residents who live near 
the lab have been fighting to stop it for more than two years. Come hear 
them describe the progress they are making and the crucial court hearing

Jane Crosby and Marty Schotz are traveling with Pastors for Peace and 
will speak on the 16th of August. They'll have many posters and an ample 
question and answer session. The group were detained by Homeland 
Security Officers, who searched their vehicles anddetained computers and 
generally treated them like criminals.The Pastors for Peace (126 of 
them) are US Citizens and Interantional Activists and are challenging

Then see SALUD!  A film on Cuban Healthcare on Thursday July 26th at 
6:30 pm, Coolidge Corner Library, 31 Pleasant St. SALUD! examines the 
curious case of Cuba, a cash-strapped country with what the BBC calls 
"one of the world's best health systems." From the shores of Africa to 
the Mississippi Delta "Salud" hits the road with some 28,000 Cuban 
health professionals serving in 68 countries, and explores the hearts 
and the minds of international medical  students in Cuba - now numbering 
30,000. Their stories bring home the complex realities confronting the 
movement to make health care a human right. Featuring Dr. Pat Farmer of 
Partners in Health, the subject of Tracy Kidder's Mountains Beyond

Progressive Democrats of Cambridge and the Progressive Democrats of 
Somerville are joining forces in sponsoring a forum for the candi9dates 
in the upcoming special election for the vacant State Senate seat in the 
Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex district due to the recent resignation of 
Jarrett Barrios. All four candidates who qualified for the ballot in 
this race have been invited. With the short special election campaign 
season, there will be limited opportunities to see the candidates 
together. he Democratic primary, which will almost certainly determine 
the outcome of the election, takes place on Sept.11. This forum can play 
an important role in shaping the remainder of the campaign.It will 
include a mix of prepared questions and questions from the floor as well

VANZETTI*-A MUSIC AND THEATER FESTIVAL, ARTSHOWING ,ETC. The Sacco and 
Vanzetti Commemoration Society is honoring the two anarchist Italian 
immigrants on the 80th anniversary of their unjust execution. In the 
1920s , their trial roused people all over the world and brought them in 
the streets to decry state repression. Why is Sacco and Vanzetti's case 
still relevant today and why is it more important than ever to remember 
Boston's radical history?



We are inviting you to answer these questions through your music, 
theater, films and artwork. March from Copley to the North End: Music 
and theater festival, art showing, march from Copley to the North End, 
street theater, film showing. Actors, musicians, puppeteers, brass 
bands,  visual artists, and new media artists are encouraged to respond 
to capital punishment, the war on terror, government repression of

Carl Arredondo, other concerned citizens and many music performers.This 
is a convergence of ANTI-WAR, ENVIRONMENT, LABOR AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
