>From the Frontlines of the Struggle Against Privatization--
Salvadoran Union Leader Speaks Out!!" Monday, November 12RICARDO CALDERON of the Salvadoran Union Front (FSS) 7:00-9:00pmDemocracy Center-->45 Mt. Auburn St, Harvard SquareIn the last year, the Salvadoran government had made aggressive moves toprivatize two essential public services: water and the public health care system. In defense of their "pay or die" national privatization schemes, the Salvadoran right-wing government, with the support of the US government,
has arrested, brutalized, and charged with "committing acts of terrorism" those
who peacefully protest these destructive plans. On the frontlines of popular
resistance to privatizationare the labor unions--who are also hit the hardest by
the government's attempts to crush popular opposition to privatization. Join us for an evening with Ricardo Calderon--long-time unionist and leaderof the union struggle--as he recounts the recent hard-won victories againstpublic service privatization and the striking challenges that the labor movement continues to face as it spearheads the resistance toprivatization!!Check out the attached speaker's biography for more details on Ricardo'shistory. For more information on this event or on Ricardo Calderon's touring schedule, please contact:Boston CISPES: Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador2161 Massachusetts AveCambridge, MA 02140tel: 617.576.1709email: boscispes at speakeasy.net
