Hi folks,

The Winter Soldier hearings that IVAW are holding March 13-16 promise
to be extremely important in building the antiwar and GI resistance
movements. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans as well as Iraqi and Afghan
civilians will testify about what is really happening, and if this
gets media attention the American public will hear testimony that they
have never heard before.

The budget for this undertaking is extremely large. A documentary
film will be made, the hearings will be webcast, people will be flown
in from Iraq and Afghanistan, 300 people will be housed, mental health
professionals will be hired to help with the trauma likely to result
from the recounting of these horrors, etc. Veterans For Peace is
committed to raising a large amount of money to support IVAW.

The local Smedley Butler Brigade chapter of VFP will be holding a
fundraiser on Sunday 1/27 at 3 PM in Newton. Howard Zinn, Liam Madden
of IVAW, and original Winter Soldier participant Joe Bangert will
speak. An excerpt from the original Winter Soldier film from 1972
will be shown. A pdf version of the flyer can be seen at:

If you cannot come, and for those out of town, please consider making
a generous donation and send it to me. Details are given at the
bottom of page 1 of the flyer.

Please distribute this flyer far and wide to your friends and email
lists. Thanks, and we hope to see you on the 27th.

Best Regards,
