CaptainThomas Sankara was the leader of the Burkinabe Revolution, in the former Frenchcolony of Upper Volta known today as Burkina Faso. Under Sankara's leadershipin the 1980s, the revolutionary government of Burkina Faso in West Africamobilized peasants, workers, women, and youth to carry out literacy andimmunization drives; to sink wells, plant trees, build dams, erect housing; tocombat the oppression of women and transform exploitative relations on theland; to free themselves from the imperialist yoke and solidarize with othersengaged in that fight internationally. Sankara speaks as an outstandingrevolutionary leader of working people and youth the world over. (The film isin French with English subtitles.)
