Dear Friends and MIT Folks,
MIT & the City of Cambridge are planning to tear down 11 large, old, beautiful pear trees on Main St. near the Stata Center in order to do some "development." They say they'll replace them, but it would take saplings many, many years to even come close to replacing these trees. So, please come to the hearing this Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 5:30pm at 147 Hampshire St. Map:

ACTION: Write a short written objection (one sentence will suffice) to this tree removal & mail it today to City Arborist, Dept. of Public Works, City of Cambridge, 147 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA 02139, and/or come to the hearing (bringing your short written objection) in person. (You don't have to be a Cambridge resident, and you don't have to speak.) Let's pack the place and save these majestic trees. Your presence at the hearing will make a difference.
Thanks!
Susanna

P.S. A call to the City Arborist was not returned.
P.P.S. For those of you who don't know who the hell this is, don't worry; I won't spam you again.
P.P.P.S. No trees were destroyed in the making of this message.
