The story of the strikes and union organizing drive the men and women of Teamsters Local 574 carried out in Minnesota in 1934, paving he way for the continent-wide rise of the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) as a fighting social movement.  Through hard-fought strike actions, which were in fact organized battles, they made Minneapolis a union town, defeating not only the trucking bosses, but strikebreaking efforts of the big-business Citizens Alliance and city, state, and federal governments.  They showed in life what workers and their allies on the farms and in the cities can achieve when they’re able to count on the leadership they deserve.  Join a discussion after the film.

La historia de las huelgas y de la campaña de sindicalización que los hombres y mujeres del Local 574 de Teamsters realizaron en Minnesota en 1934, allanando el camino para el ascenso a nivel continental de Congreso de Organizaciones Industriales (CIO) como un combativo movimiento social.  A través de acciones huelguísticas reñidas, que fueron en realidad batallas organizadas, hicieron de Minneapolis una ciudad sindical, derrotando no sólo a los patrones de la industria del camionaje, sino los esfuerzos rompehuelgas de la Alianza Ciudadana patronal y de los gobiernos municipal, estatal y federal.  Demostraron en carne y huesos lo que los trabajadores y sus aliados en el campo y las ciudades pueden conseguir cuando logran contar con una dirección digna de ellos.
