Puts a new spin on the economic & energy crisis.

Points out the opportunity for quality jobs and resources for those hardest
hit.

WHERE: Twelfth Baptist Church, 150 Warren Street, Roxbury, MA



WHAT: Hundreds of supporters and allies of the Boston Green Justice
Coalition will gather at historic Twelfth Baptist Church in Roxbury to
inaugurate this exciting coalition. In addition they will:

  a.. Release a study that identifies opportunities to meet the energy
efficiency needs in Boston's low-income communities, many of them
communities of color;
  b.. Outline a comprehensive "green justice" solution that cuts energy
costs, retrofits area housing, and creates union jobs for community
residents.
  c.. Identify policy ideas that federal, state, and City leaders can
support to stem worsening local unemployment and increasing energy costs.


On Saturday December 6, union, community and environmental leaders will
launch The Boston Green Justice Coalition, a campaign that addresses three
critical needs: lowering heating costs for many of Boston's poorest
residents, quality job creation for Boston residents and cutting greenhouse
gas emissions. The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Twelfth Baptist
Church, 150 Warren Street, Roxbury, MA.



The coalition is a unique multi-sector initiative that is linking our region
's energy crisis to economic development opportunities for all. The Boston
Green Justice Coalition, convened by Community Labor United, is a part of
the national  Apollo Alliance that is coalition of business, labor,
environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy
revolution in America to reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, cut
the carbon emissions that are destabilizing our climate, and expand
opportunities for American businesses and workers.



WHO: Boston residents, union members, religious leaders, community groups,
labor unions, environmental organizations



The campaign launch will be followed by an Energy Fair organized by
Massachusetts ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)
and Boston Climate Action Network, from 11 am to 3 pm.
