A Native Heritage Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at The New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth. Inca Son are one of the few bearers of the traditional Inca musical legacy. From their beginnings as street performers in Harvard Square their stated mission has been to preserve and instill appreciation for their cultural legacy through the international language of music and dance.

Their numerous awards include the Boston Music Award and the 2007 Independent Music Award. In the words of Keith Lockhart, Conductor of the Boston Pops, with whom Inca Son played in Symphony Hall: "They have become indispensable cultural ambassadors of a nearly lost South American tradition."

The guest speaker for the evening will be Mahtowin Munro, co-founder of United American Indians of New England (UAINE). She will share stories about her life on the reservation and the spirit of the people who continue to live there.

Ellsbury, who is having a great year, is reported to be the first Native American of Navajo descent to play Major League Baseball.
