HEARTBREAK IN ROSLINDALE: THE HUMAN FACE OF THE FINANCIAL CRISIS
http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/205838/index.php
Thursday September 25,2008 – As Congress convened in attempts to reach
a deal on a $700 billion bailout for Wall Street’s failing investment
banks in Washington DC, here in Boston, a human face was put to the
crisis—something that no numbers or values can represent. At 3:45 in the afternoon, tears were streaming down Ana Esquivel’s
face, her two grandchildren in her arms on the front steps of her
house, as the constable hastily delivered the eviction notice. The
children in her arms were crying too, and even her reticent husband
Raul, was starting to lose it. The family’s belongings sat in large
bags outside the front door to what was once their house, waiting to be
loaded into a small moving van. They had hastily packed up what few
belongings they could take in the minutes before the constable arrived.

BANKS GET BAILED OUT, PEOPLE GET THROWN OUT
http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/205828/index.php
The Esquivel family were evicted Thursday from their home in
Roslindale. That same morning they had gone to the Boston Municipal
Court in a last effort to stop the eviction. The judge did not rule in
their favor. Raul and Anna Esquivel came back from court, tears
streaming for their face, to find about 10 police officers on and
around their property and another 40 people protesting the eviction.

VIDEO: Bailout Bush
http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/205821/index.php
About 25 protesters gathered at Park Street in Boston Thursday, Sept.
25 to protest Bush's bailout of Wall Street. As we look upon the demise
of capitalism and its inherant greed, people all over the US Thursday
held protests to say "Foreclose the CEOs-not our homes." A lame (very lame) duck president "Bailout" Bush(aka Markus) showed up
at the Boston rally to panhandle passersby for a few spare billions to
rescue Wall Street(or "War" Street--they finance and profit from US
wars).

19th BOSTON FREEDOM RALLY (Audio)

Coverage of the 19th annual anti-drug prohibition rally. Listen to
Keith Saunders, the current President of MassCann, the Massachusetts
Cannibals Reform coalition, and sponsoring organization of this, the
19th annual Freedom Rally, which took place Saturday, September 20 on
the Boston Common. Some people described it as a day of Utopia;
beautiful weather, free eclectic music, food and culture vendors, and
the ability to light up in public without paranoia. Although the Boston
Globe reported 6 arrests, which is way down from years past.

PHILIPPINES: SUSPEND US MILITARY DEPLOYMENTS TO MINDANAO
http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/205736/index.php
A broad coalition of NGOs, social movements, and political parties from
Mindanao and the rest of the country today called for all US military
deployments in Mindanao suspended pending the conclusion of a fair and
thorough probe by lawmakers. The Citizens’ Peace Watch, a group formed to monitor what it fears as
the growing and permanent US military presence in the South, reiterated
its recommendations from a fact-finding mission it conducted in
Zamboanga City and Sulu last February. Members of the mission claim to
have seen with their own eyes — and to have pictures of — the US’
military structures inside Camp Navarro in Zamboanga City.

CODDLING OF PALIN IS FALSE FEMINISM, DISGUISED SEXISM, AND RIGHT-WING ANTI-WORKING-WOMEN THATCHERISM (Commentary)
http://boston.indymedia.org/feature/display/205686/index.php
Some women groups and advocates are screaming that media bashing of
Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is
sexism. In truth, their call for media and the rest of the public to go
slow in critiquing Sarah Palin is driven by real sexism. They are
virtually saying: She’s a woman, who have been oppressed, and so don’t
bash her, don’t allow the media and the public to grill her and
criticize her sharply, like they do the male candidates. Actually, this
kind of thinking smacks of a medieval male chauvinist, sexist mentality
that said: Women are weak and fragile, so they should be protected, and
put on a pedestal.
