Last October Jean Entine and Susan Jacoby were part of a delegation
from Boston who planned to attend an international health and human
rights conference in Gaza. The Israeli government denied participants
entry into Gaza; however, the conference, co-sponsored by the World
Health Organization, went on anyway, via video link between Gaza and
Ramallah. Boston activists organized a successful press conference in
Jerusalem and others organized a large protest at the Gaza
checkpoint. Jean and Sue will share their experiences in Israel and
the West Bank and discuss the impact of Israel’s most recent assault
on Gaza.
Jean Entine is a member of the national board of Jewish Voice for
Peace and Susan is active in both the Boston Coalition for
Palestinian Rights and Jewish Women for Justice in Israel/Palestine.
Susan has traveled to the region four times. This was the first trip
for Jean.

The issues presented at the Community Change Brown Bag Discussion
Series are concrete examples of the structural racism that affects
the lives of all, most acutely communities of color. The 2009 Series
places these issues in their social/historical context and gives
attendees a truthful discourse, as well as ways to put that discourse
into action, in order to challenge institutional and systemic racism.
Please bring your lunch. Beverages will be provided. $5 contribution
requested.
