8:15 pm Movies By Al-Rowwad and Lajee center
Please come to celebrate, watch movies, and hear about the work of two great
organizations: Lajee Center and Al-Rowwad Children's Theater, both located
in Aida Refugee Camp.
We are lucky enough to have representatives from both organizations: Dr.
Abdefattah Abusrour from Al-Rowwad will discuss the ongoing efforts to bring
creativity and hope to the children of Aida, and Nidal Al-Azraq will talk
about the geographic constraints of living in the camp, and about Lajee's
work to help youth overcome such obstacles.
We will screen a movie from Al-Rowwad, "Bethlehem 4 am," and from Lajee, we
will screen youth media from the summer of 2009.
This fundraiser will help to raise money to buy a small plot of land (one of
the the few open spaces remaining that is accessible to the Camp), in order
to build a playground and a small vegetable garden. These funds will also
provide essential equipment to keep the theater and dance programs properly
staffed.

Al-Rowwad Center is an independent center for artistic, cultural, and
theatre training for children in Aida Camp. The Center's goal is to provide
a "safe" and healthy environment to help build children's creativity and
provide positive outlets for them to discharge the stress of living in the
war conditions which surround them.
Lajee Center is a non-profit, non-partisan youth organization established to
provide refugee youth with cultural and educational enrichment
opportunities. Lajee's goal is to provide a space for youth and volunteers
"to dream together, to work together, to decide together, to build a future
together."
Donation for this event will be split evenly between the Al-Rowwad Center
and the Lajee Center. Donations are tax deductible: By credit card go
to: http://alrowwadusa.bbnow.org/donate.php, or a make check out to
Al-Rowwad USA Inc and mail to 79 Amory st Cambridge MA 02139.
