HEALTH CARE REFORM & HEALTH CARE DISPARITIES: WHERE’S THE DEBATE?
The quest to correct racial disparities in health care – differences
in the level and quality of treatment between whites and minorities –
hasn’t been the focus of health reform debate. But advocates are
hoping to use the nearly trillion-dollar effort to fix some of the
inequities, by sending billions in federal aid to boost community
hospitals, local clinics, and other programs. Are these effective
ways to address health care disparities? If so, what are the chances
that these items will be part of a final bill? What can WE do to
support work to correct racial disparities in health care?
