A HAITÍ TRAS TEMBLOR
Explotación imperialista amplifica crisis
I have been told that much U.S. media coverage
paints Haiti as a tinderbox ready to explode. I’m told that lead stories in
major media are of looting, violence and chaos. There could be nothing further
from the truth.
Haiti can be proud of its survivors. Their dignity and decency in the face of
this tragedy is itself staggering.
David Belle, the director of the Ciné Institute
film school in Jacmel. Sunday, January
17
Haiti
is the net product of colonialism and imperialism, of more than one century of
the employment of its human resources in the toughest forms of work, of
military interventions and the extraction of its natural resources . . .
Situations like that of that country should not exist in any part of the
planet, where tens of thousands of cities and towns abound in similar or worse
conditions, by virtue of an unjust international economic and political order
imposed on the world.
Fidel Castro, Thursday, January 14
Join
a discussion about:
· The history of Haiti
and of imperialist interventions in that country
· Why working people
should demand massive, immediate U.S. aid to Haiti, with no strings attached
and without imperialist troops
· The need to demand the
U.S. open the borders to all Haitian refugees, and legalization for all Haitian
and other immigrants!
· The example of
revolutionary Cuba -- there were 344 medical personnel from Cuba serving in
Haiti on voluntary internationalist missions prior to the earthquake joined the
rescue effort immediately and more were sent afterward.
