*Thursday, March 4th, is the National Day of Action to Defend Education.

Public Education is under attack, and there will be mass protests throughout
the country on March 4th. Unions, community groups and student organizations
have signed on to the call (defendeducation.org). With increased
privatization, rising costs, budget cuts and union busting, it is time to
fight back against the big business agenda for education.

Here in Boston, the most significant action against education cuts and
tuition hikes on March 4th will be held at UMass-Boston beginning at 12noon
outside the Campus Center.

**Campus unions at UMass-Boston have planned a rally and teach-in on March
4th. Student groups are helping to plan the events with more endorsers and
activists joining up by the hour. The teach-in will be held from 4pm to 7pm
in the McCormack Building on the third floor in room 201.*

   - No to Budget Cuts and Tuition Hikes!
   - No to Layoffs and Furloughs!
   - Honor the Union Contracts!
   - Stop the Privatization!

*
State and local budgets are in crisis, but we can stop these savage cuts.
Money that could be spent on jobs and education is being handed over to the
big banks and the war machine. Oregon voters recently decided to tax the
rich in order to stop the cuts that hurt us all.

Also, check out the event on Wednesday, March 3rd against education
privatization starting with a 4pm rally at the Statehouse.*
