The organizations of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC-MA) strongly condemn the passage of SB 1070 in Arizona for the following reasons:



Represents a roll-back of nearly fifty years of civil rights by legalizing racial profiling

Would further drive the undocumented into the shadows

Continues the myth that immigrants are criminals and threats to national security

Does not address any of the underlying problems with our immigration system

Provides an exorbitant amount of power to local law enforcement on a federal issue

Member organizations of NALACC, MA:  Agencia ALPHA, Centro Presente, Chelsea Collaborative, CORES, CCEMA, Dominican Development Center, LUMA, La Comunidad and Honduran Project
