REMINDER:
We welcome those who have not registered but want to attend
especially the Friday evening panel or the "how-to" sessions on
Saturday. You may attend on a donation basis. For last minute
questions, call 617-282-3783 or 917-474-4380.
The 25th annual New England Gathering of War Tax Resisters and
Supporters will take place on November 5-7, 2010, at Cambridge
Friends Meeting, 9 Longfellow Park, Cambridge (5th-6th) and at
Encuentro 5, 33 Harrison St., Boston (7th).
The New England Gathering of War Tax Resisters and Supporters is an
annual educational, networking, and support gathering for those who
are conscientiously opposed to paying federal taxes for war. It will
also provide information to those who recognize their opposition to
US warmaking and want to act on those beliefs. The weekend will offer
an opportunity for more individuals to consider engaging in war tax
resistance/refusal/redirection (WTR) and to learn from the rich
history of war tax resistance in New England.
The gathering will include panels, how-to sessions, small group
discussions, strategizing to bring WTR to new groups, home-grown
entertainment, and more. It will provide support and new connections
for those already resisting and history, how-to’s, risks and rewards,
and a chance to learn from past successes and failures for those new
to the idea or considering whether WTR is for them.
“It’s time to transform our government’s practice of ‘endless war”
into one of resolving conflicts nonviolently and no longer
intervening in the affairs of other people and countries,” stated
gathering organizer Larry Dansinger, a refuser for over thirty years.
“War tax refusal and redirecting tax money to groups that are
suffering because of our excessive spending on war is one good
strategy for ending our endless warmaking. War tax resisters can say
‘no’ to war every day.” he declared.
The 2010 New England War Tax Resisters Gathering will take place in
concert with the semi-annual meeting of the National War Tax
Resistance Coordinating Committee (NWTRCC), sharing space and
activities on Friday evening thru Sunday lunch. A WTR counselor
training will be offered by NWTRCC on Sunday afternoon from 1-5 PM.
