*CALL FOR SPONSORS:*
The FBI has initiated an attack on free speech and association, taking the
form of issuing subpoenas to 23 political activists in Chicago and
Minneapolis. Maureen Murphy, the managing editor of the Palestine
information website Electronic Intifada <http://electronicintifada.net/>, is
one of those activists. The Federal government claims that she and the
others have provided "material support to terrorism," but they have only
been organizing opposition to US policy in the Middle East and Latin
America.
As Maureen Murphy said, “We are being targeted for the work we do to end
U.S. funding of the Israeli occupation, ending the war in Afghanistan and
ending the occupation of Iraq. What is at stake for all of us is our right
to dissent and organize to change harmful US foreign policy."
These attacks are not going to stop unless we can mobilize an even larger
and more ongoing exposure of and resistance to them --- and they will likely
broaden to include less vulnerable movements.
The Boston Committee to Stop FBI repression has formed to combat and expose
the FBI repression and is organizing the above event towards that end.
Please join us and ask your organization to endorse the event. Please send
endorsements to stopfbi.boston at gmail.com no later than 2/21/11. Thanks!
