We've had a last-minute change of venue for tomorrow's screening of Harlan County, USA. It is now at Bikes Not Bombs Hub, which is a short walk from Spontaneous and Stony Brook T, at 284 Amory Street, JP (the brewery complex).

16mm print of Harlan County USA in solidarity with Wisconsin workers
March 25th, 8pm, Bikes Not Bombs

As a show of solidarity with the workers in Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and other places where their right to demand fair treatment is under question, we will be projecting a 16mm print of the 1976 Academy Award-winning documentary classic Harlan County, USA. The film covers the 1972 coal miners strike against the Duke Power Company, in Harlan County, Kentucky, in their battle for fair wages and safer working conditions. Director Barbara Kopple spent years filming the coal miners and their families, providing a very intimate look into the exploitation and antagonism they faced, even capturing an actual shooting on film. There is some amazing local music throughout, as well.
