LABOR, HEALTH CARE & HUMAN RIGHTS WITH STEVE EARLY
============================================================
------------------------------------------------------------
A Book Party and Forum
------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday evening, May 3rd @ 7:00
82 Green Street, Jamaica Plain
Community Room at the former Bowditch School
Green Street stop on Orange Line - Buses #39 & #42
Steve Early was an organizer for the Communications Workers of America for 27
years and is one of the editors of three independent labor newsletters. His many
newspaper op-eds and magazine articles have been published as Embedded with
Organized Labor: Journalistic Reflections on the Class War at Home.
In The Civil Wars in US Labor, Early examines the bitter disputes about union
structure, membership rights, organizing strategy and contract standards
enveloping SEIU, UNITE HERE, the California Nurses Association and independent
organizations like the Federación de Maestros de Puerto Rico and the new
National Union of Healthcare Workers in California.
Steve Early will relate the past and ongoing struggles of public-sector, GE and
Verizon workers around healthcare costs, and link this to the fight for a
single-payer universal system.
