The Militant Labor Forum presents:

TwoFilms About the Cuban Revolution

Join us at the Militant Labor Forum this Saturday night to view two films about
the Cuban Revolution.

Maestra (Teacher)

A film about the 1961 literacy campaign in Cuba in which thousands of young
people, the majority of them young women and teenage girls, were mobilized to go
and live in the countryside to teach people how to read and write.
Maestra celebrates this amazing story on the 50th anniversary of the literacy
campaign through original film footage of the period, photographs and personal
interviews of the teachers who are now in their 60's, 70's and 80's.

Che Guevara on “Face the Nation”

In December, 1964, Che Guevara, a leader of the Cuban Revolution, traveled to
New York to address the United Nations. During his eight-day stay he met with
diplomatic representatives, with Cubans living in the US who supported the
revolution, and with political activists. During a reception at the Tanzanian
mission he met another noted revolutionary leader -- Malcolm X. On December 14
he also appeared on the CBS news program Face the Nation.
