UJP Activist: Blood on the Tracks: The Life and Times of S. Brian Willson

BLOOD ON THE TRACKS: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF S. BRIAN WILLSON
============================================================

When: Thursday, October 20, 2011, 7:30 pm
Where: Cambridge Friends Meeting Center • 5 Longfellow Park, off Brattle St.
• Harvard Sq T • Cambridge

Brian Willson, author of BLOOD ON THE TRACKS - a powerful new book about
the US Government assault on him and our nonviolent protest, and his

"conversion" to a Warrior for Peace.

In 1987, Willson, a former intelligence officer in Vietnam, was deliberately run
over by a locomotive as he sat on the tracks at the U.S. Navy Munitions Arsenal
in Concord, California. He was there trying to stop shipments of arms to Central
America.  Willson lost both legs. As he reouncs in his book, his personal
experiences in Vietnam led him to peace activism and his subsequent bloody
amputations did nothing to slow him down. As Daneil Ellsberg recounts in his
forward to the book, Willson's story of personal courage and determination can
and should be an inspiration for us all.

Sponsored by Cambridge UJP, the Cambridge Peace Commission, the Friends Meeting,
and Massachusetts Peace Action.

Mr. Willson will also speak in Sherborn, October 18, at the Peace Abbey, 2 North
Main St. ( Rt. 27), at 7:30 pm, and in Dorchester, October 19, at the
Chancellor's Conference Room, Quinn Administration Building, 3rd Floor, UMass
Boston, Dorchester, at 2:00 pm.
