Protest Boston's Own One Percent:  Landlord Bill Kargman!

12:00 pm - PICKET at 151 Tremont Street near West Street (across from Boston
Common)

1:15 pm -   MARCH to Boston Housing Court

2:00 pm -   HEARING  at Boston Housing Court at 24 New Chardon Street

 

We subsidized his profits, now he's pricing us out!

 

Just like Wall Street, landlord Bill Kargman wants socialized risk with
privatized profit.  
Over the past four decades since HUD began subsidizing his mortgages,
Kargman has benefitted from millions of public dollars.  

Now he is converting much of this affordable housing to market-rate housing.
Leaving low income tenants behind.

His profits come at the expense of hundreds of working families, people of
color, and seniors, who are being priced out of Boston.

 

According to Mayor Menino's office, of the 1,081 affordable homes that have
been lost permanently in Boston over the past five years - 1,069 apartments
- or 99% -  were owned by Bill Kargman!   

This includes 173 homes lost at Burbank Apartments in the Fenway, over 500
lost at High Point Village in Roslindale, and over 160 lost at Camelot Court
in Brighton.

 

Tenants are fighting back - with a lawsuit and in the streets!

 

Can't join us on the 14th? You can still make your voice heard!  Simply
phone Bill Kargman and demand that he restore long-term affordability at
Burbank Apartments and High Point Village.
