PARTISAN TAUNTING: A NEW CONCEPTUALIZATION OF HOW MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ACT
Sunday Morning, Spiegel Auditorium, 56 Brattle Street, Harvard Square. Program is Free, and Public is Most Welcome. Coffee and Discussion to follow presentation. For further information call 617-739-9050 or visit BostonEthical.Org.
Program Speaker: Gary King, Albert J. Wetherhead III University Professor, Director of the Institute for Quantitative Social Science, Harvard University. Gary King and colleaques developed a computer-assisted method for the discovery of insightful conceptualizations from unstructured text - a way of "reading" or understanding information in massive numbers of documents that no unassisted human being could accomplish in a lifetime of effort. Applying this new approach to 64,000 press releases from the U. S. Senate (among other data sets), they discovered and measured "partisan taunting", a new conceptualization of how members act.
