Florida chapter of Veterans For Peace are once again teaming up to do a 
one-hour radio program on Sunday night, January 15th at 10:00 PM Eastern 
Time.  The show is part of the once-a-month international radio marathon 
broadcast around the world on http://www.UnitedWeStrike.com

The name of the new radio program is /"We Cannot Be Silent"/ and it was 
derived from the following section of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 
famous /"Beyond Vietnam - A Time To Break Silence" /speech given at the 
Riverside Community Church in Harlem, NYC on April 4, 1967 ... one year 
to the day before Dr. King was murdered.  It's only fitting that our 
first broadcast will actually be on the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther 
King, Jr.
Below is the text from the segment of Dr. King's /"Beyond Vietnam - A 
Time To Break Silence"/ speech being referred to:
/"As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I 
have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their 
problems. I have tried to offer them my deepest compassion while 
maintaining my conviction that social change comes most meaningfully 
through nonviolent action. But they ask -- and rightly so -- what about 
Vietnam? They ask if our own nation wasn't using massive doses of 
violence to solve its problems, to bring about the changes it wanted. 
Their questions hit home, and I knew that I could never again raise my 
voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without 
having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the 
world today -- my own government. For the sake of those boys, for the 
sake of this government, for the sake of the hundreds of thousands 
trembling under our violence, _I_ _cannot_ _be_ _silent_."/
