Global Problems - The 99%'s Solutions

with Bill McKibben & Suren Moodliar

Set your Internet Browser to OBR.FM.

On tonight's show we will be airing an interview, being recorded Wednesday
morning, with environmentalist and author Bill McKibben. We will also have
the interviewer, Suren Moodliar, on the show as a live guest.

Bill McKibben is the author of a dozen books about the environment,
beginning with The End of Nature in 1989, which is regarded as the first
book for a general audience on climate change. He is a founder of the
grassroots climate campaign <http://350.org/> 350.org, which has
coordinated 15,000 rallies in 189 countries since 2009. Time Magazine called
him 'the planet's best green journalist' and the Boston Globe said in 2010
that he was 'probably the country's most important environmentalist.'
Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College, he holds honorary
degrees from a dozen colleges, including the Universities of Massachusetts
and Maine, the State University of New York, and Whittier and Colgate
Colleges. In 2011 he was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts
and Sciences.

Suren Moodliar is a coordinator of Massachusetts Global Action, an
organization challenging corporate globalization. He worked on the Boston
Social Forum and helped found the encuentro 5 "movement-building space" in
Boston's Chinatown (see http://www.encuentro5.org). He also oversees the
"Color of Water" project that promotes the UN-recognized Human Right to
Water, and has served as executive director of the Organizers' Collaborative
and coordinated the 9th and 10th annual Grassroots Use of Technology
Conferences (see http://www.GrassrootsTech.org).

This is all connected with The Global Teach-in, a web event taking place
Wednesday April 25th afternoon from 12:00 to 4:00. The Global Teach-In will
take place simultaneously in seven countries and multiple cities. It will
be an interactive and participatory event will include discussions by
experts, grassroots activists and citizens at large concerned about
developing solutions to policy problems and creating alternative
institutions.
