          Across the country Republican legislators and right-wing
institutions are attacking women's rights. New laws are redefining rape,
restricting access to contraceptives, and requiring invasive medical
procedures in the form of transvaginal ultrasounds before abortions are
permitted. Conservative groups are also attempting to cut off funding to
Planned Parenthood which millions of women rely upon on for basic
healthcare. These despicable acts recently culminated in radio shock-jock
Rush Limbaugh calling a reproductive rights activist a "slut" and
"prostitute"! This raises many questions. What's behind these attacks? How
are they connected to the capitalist society we live in, where the ruling
class attempts to divide the 99% in every way they can in the hopes of
weakening challenges to their system? Is capitalism compatible with full
equality for women? How can we wage a successful fightback against these
attacks? Is electing Democrats the answer? Or do we a need an independent,
mass movement approach to defeat the far right?
