A Trip Through Strawberry Fields: Deconstructing the Beatles
Join composer/producer/sound designer Scott Freiman as he takes Beatles fans
on A Trip Through Strawberry Fields at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, Monday,
June 18 at 7:30 pm. The event is a lively multimedia exploration of the
making and meaning of three iconic Beatles songs: John Lennon's 1967 single,
"Strawberry Fields Forever," its flip side, Paul McCartney's "Penny Lane,"
and "A Day in the Life," from the revolutionary 1967 album, Sgt. Pepper's
Lonely Heart Club Band. Freiman, a Beatles fanatic, delves into the origins
and composition of these classic tunes, and transports the audience into the
studio for a look at the groundbreaking production techniques used in
recording them. Lacing his presentation with anecdotes and rare audio and
video clips, he not only shows how the songs evolved, from demos to final
recordings, but also sheds new light on their lasting influence on popular
music. What better way to celebrate Sir Paul's 70th birthday? ($15 general
admission/$12 Coolidge members) can be purchased online at www.coolidge.org
or at the Coolidge box office.
