Take Action: GM Workers in Colombia on Hunger Strike
http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/5436/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=11423

The association of injured workers, who were fired by General Motors when their
bodies were disabled and could no longer perform manual labor, went on
strike a year ago, setting up a make-shift camp outside of the U.S. Embassy
in Colombia. They began a hunger strike last week. The fired workers,
unable to find work elsewhere, went on strike to call on GM to meet their
simple demands: reintegration into the workforce and medical care.

They earn no income and have no means of supporting their families.
Desperate for progress, four workers sewed their lips shut and started a
hunger strike on August 1st, 2012. The association’s president, Jorge
Parra, gave this rationale: “Essentially, GM gave us a choice: to die of
hunger or to die waiting for them to solve this problem.”

*They need your urgent support. **Thank you for joining them in their fight
for justice**.*
