Black August Meeting Thursday in Dorchester with Eljeer Hawkins
Capitalism Means: Racism, Poverty and Police Violence

This Meeting is Free and Open to the Public
Thursday, August 23th at 6:30pm
Grove Hall Library, Activity Room
(41 Geneva Ave. in Boston)

With the recent police violence in Anaheim, the murder of Trayvon
Martin, mass unemployment and the continued existence of a racist
criminal justice system, this meeting will discuss a socialist
alternative to the inequalities of capitalism. Malcolm X once said that
"you can't have capitalism without racism"; this meeting will explore
this theme and much more.

Eljeer Hawkins is an author who has covered various topics from the
legacy of the Black Freedom Movement to last year's Georgia prisoners'
strike. Eljeer has spoken at many colleges and community centers
throughotu the country about the necessity of building a movement that
unites working people to challenge the capitalist system and all its
ills. Eljeer is a founding member of both Harlem Youth Against Poverty
and Racism and Socialist Alternative.
