It is with great joy that the Community Church of Boston honors Tarek
Mehanna with the 36th Annual Sacco & Vanzetti Social Social Justice Award.
We will gather to celebrate this man's commitment to his community and the
rights and dignity of oppressed peoples throughout the world, and to condemn
the persecution he has endured for exercising his right to free speech and
expression. We will also celebrate the struggles of all justice seekers and
remember the lasting legacy of Sacco & Vanzetti.

Please join us on Sunday, January 6th, 2013 at 11:00am
at the Community Church of Boston
565 Boylston Street, Boston MA

Tarek Mehanna, a young pharmacist from Sudbury, Massachusetts, is a devout
Muslim who is respected in the local Muslim and interfaith communities; he
has fulfilled the roles of brother, son, educator, mentor, scholar,
professional, advocate and friend.

For several years, Tarek has been victim to FBI surveillance and harassment.
He was targeted for being a politically conscious, outspoken Muslim leader.
In an attempt to silence and use him, the FBI approached Tarek to become an
informant. When Tarek, a man of integrity, refused to be an FBI informant
against his community, the FBI continued to pursue him with threats of
criminal charges if he would not comply, before finally arresting him in the
fall of 2008 and then again on October 21st, 2009.

Many in Massachusetts know the travesty of justice that the Sacco & Vanzetti
case represented. The Community Church of Boston strives to keep alive the
memory of these two Italian immigrant anarchists who were unjustly targeted,
by reminding the world that the same kind of injustices that occurred in the
1920's and throughout history continue today. Tarek Mehanna is one of many
people still seeking justice.

We are also offering ad space in this year's Sacco & Vanzetti Award Ceremony
