======== JOBS NOT WARS =======================================================

Dear UJPers,

If you haven't already done so, sign the Jobs Not Wars petition now!
[1]  http://jobs-not-wars.org [2]. The petition is accessible from a button
on the jobsnotwars.org home page which also has lots of information. Or you
can click on this link: "Sign the Jobs Not Wars petition [3]"
The budget negotiations in Washington are at a critical juncture; by March 1,
Congress must take action to cut the federal deficit.  We want money for
jobs and no cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid.  The only way to
do that is significant cuts in the huge military budget!
UJP is an endorsing organization of the Jobs Not Wars petition which today
has about 26,000 signatures nationally; added to the sister Roots Action
petition signatures of 14,000, we have about 40,000 of the goal of 50,000.
There will be an action in February to present the petition to the president
and Congress.   This campaign is helping 140+ organizations to connect their
efforts; signing and forwarding the petition is an easy way for all of us to
participate.
United for Justice with Peace [4] is a coalition of peace and justice
organizations and community peace groups in the Greater Boston region. The
UJP Coalition, formed after September 11th, seeks global peace through social
and economic justice.
