event of the year, Connecting for Justice, at Lir on Boylston in Boston’s
Back Bay. This open house event draws 120+ progressives of all stripes and
is a great way to engage with SoJust's cross-issue progressive network.
In this welcoming space, all attendees - diverse by age, race, gender,
sexual orientation, newness to Boston, and experience with activism - come
together to “put the SOCIAL back in social justice!” </span></p>

open house will build on the momentum of RootsCamp MA, a progressive
“un-conference” on April 6-7 which SoJust helped sponsor, plan and promote.
The conference drew 100+ progressives (including Boston City Councilors
Felix Arroyo and Ayanna Pressley) together to discuss the importance of and
“why behind the why” of cross-issue progressive organizing. </span></p>

RootsCamp MA, both City Councilors singled out Robbie Samuels, RootsCamp MA
lead organizer and SoJust Co-Founder, for his vision of social justice and
his ability to connect and convene people. For the past decade, Robbie has
been a leader within Boston’s progressive community. He has been recognized
for his efforts - in 2011, his birthday, September 16, was declared
"Robbie Samuels Day" by the Boston City Council. In creating
SoJust, Robbie has combined fun, socializing and cross-issue mobilization
as never before.</span></p>

sets Connecting for Justice apart from other networking events is the fact
that attendees are encouraged to bring their whole selves. Every attendee
is encouraged to fill out ‘Ask Me About’ and ‘I’m Looking For’ tags, so
they can make the most of the space and possible connections in the room.
“If someone is looking for a job, or wants to talk up a project or cause
they’re passionate about, we make it really easy for them to focus their
networking efforts,” says Jessica Critcher, SoJust’s other
co-organizer.</span></p>

event also features a jobs board, a literature table and action stations,
to model what SoJust calls the “Philosophy of Abundance,” or, the idea that
sharing knowledge strengthens the community as a whole. Bring your business
cards, literature about your cause, flyers for your event, a stack of
petitions - you name it. Organizers looking for members, volunteers,
signatures or rally attendees will not be treated as interlopers as they
work the room, because furthering progressive causes is the entire point of
the event. As Robbie says, “If you think this group might be for you, it
is.” Learn more and RSVP at <a href="http://www.sojust.org"
