THE COMMUNITY CHURCH OF BOSTON
SUNDAY SPEAKERS FORUM presents...

SISTER CLARE CARTER
"Buddhism in the Modern World"

Sister Clare Carter is a member of the Nipponzan Myohoji Japanese Buddhist
order, which focuses on healing modern civilization from materialism and
violence by bringing human beings back to their spiritual foundations. The
basic practice of the order is walking, beating a prayer drum, and chanting
the prayer Namu-myoho-renge-kyo in order to bring peace into the world.
Following this teaching, she has participated in many local and regional
walks, and in some international walks such as the Interfaith Pilgrimage for
Peace and Life from Auschwitz to Hiroshima (1995), and retracing the journey
of the trans-Atlantic slave trade in the Interfaith Pilgrimage of the Middle
Passage (1998-1999).
