GREATER BOSTON Residents to Hold Candlelight Vigil Monday to Urge All of
Massachusetts US Representatives and Senators Markey and Warren to Vote
Against Bombing Syria
Vigil to Take Place Monday, September 9th at 7:00 PM at Park Street,
Boston, MA
Event Is Part of National Day of Action Happening Across Country
-- Residents of Greater Boston will hold a candlelight vigil at Park
Street on Monday evening to urge Representative Joseph Kennedy III and
William Keating and Nicki Tsongas to vote against bombing Syria. The event
in Boston is part of a national day of action being organized by the
progressive organizations MoveOn.org Civic Action, CREDO Action,
Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), and Win Without War,
Massachusetts Peace Action. Similar vigils will take place in nearly one
hundred cities across the country on Monday.
At the vigil, local residents will urge Rep. Kennedy, Keating and Tsongas
to avoid another unnecessary and costly war and vote against the
Authorization for Use of Military Force resolution expected to be debated
soon in Congress.
The local organizer for the event, Cole Harrison, said, “the Obama
administration presses Congress to approve a war that the American people
and the whole world rejects; and any military intervention will be a war
against the Syrian people."
