GREATER BOSTON MOVE
TO AMEND TO HOLD DEMOCRACY RALLY
Greater Boston
Move to Amend will hold a "Rally for Democracy" to examine how corporations won
constitutional rights intended for people and how we can reclaim our democracy
by amending the US Constitution. The rally will be held at the 1199SEIU union hall,
150 Mt. Vernon St., Dorchester (JFK/UMass T stop) on October 19, 2013 from
noon to 4. The event is wheelchair accessible. Plenty of parking is available.
If you are alarmed by the corporate hijacking of our government, laws, economy, and
culture, join others who feel the same way. Explore what can be done and find out how to become part of the
groundswell of democracy activism happening across the country.
The program will
include educational presentations (What is a corporation? Demystifying Citizens
United v. FEC); discussions (Where do we go from here?); group activities
(One Step Forward, The Squid Game); film clips (The Corporation and Heist:
Who Stole the American Dream?); a skit (“Uncle Pennybags”); music; and poetry.
Join the fight for an amendment to the US Constitution stating that
corporations are not entitled to constitutional rights and that money is not a
form of speech protected under the First Amendment and can be regulated in
campaigns.
Move to Amend is
a nationwide coalition of hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of
individuals committed to social and economic justice, ending corporate rule,
and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people,
not corporate interests.
