We were part of the FUKUSHIMA IS HERE global event on Sat Oct 19, and the
picture of us standing in front of the Consulate was posted all over the
place.  For me, the most moving response was from a woman who said thank
you from Japan.

As November approaches and TEPCO and the Japanese government are not moving
away from saying they are going in to fix reactor 4 IN November, the times
are more dire than ever.

whole world is waiting to exhale. Former Japanese Ambassador to Switzerland
on the video saying TEPCO should not go it alone and Japan needs
international experts. They do not give a date in November, just say
November and will take 18 months

3) "The Ocean is Broken,"

2013, is a first hand narrative by and about Ivan Macfadyen as he crossed
the ocean from Melbourne, Australia to Osaka, Japan and then from Osaka to
San Francisco.

"....The next leg of the long voyage was from Osaka to San Francisco and
for most of that trip the desolation was tinged with nauseous horror and a
degree of fear.

"After we left Japan, it felt as if the ocean itself was dead," Macfadyen
said.

"We hardly saw any living things. We saw one whale, sort of rolling
helplessly on the surface with what looked like a big tumour on its head.
It was pretty sickening.

"I've done a lot of miles on the ocean in my life and I'm used to seeing
turtles, dolphins, sharks and big flurries of feeding birds. But this time,
for 3000 nautical miles there was nothing alive to be seen..."

21, 2013  "Toxic Overflow of Thousands of Fukushima Tanks Following Heavy
Rains" The situation is very grave and endangers all of us

So we continue to stand at the Consulate to say that Fukushima does not
belong to Japan, it is a world wide tragedy and catastrophe of the highest
order and must have a world wide solution - experts from all over the world
and not chosen by Japanese gov't or TEPCO and with them not in charge either

We hope you will join us at this vigil, either regularly or when you can.
We warmly welcome you and bring a friend or two or more

We need you, we want you, we await you.

Don't you want to tell your children, grandchildren, and all the children
of the world that you did everything you possilby could, and then some, to
help avert this monstrous scenario - of more than 14K Hiroshimas being set
off if something goes wrong in November as they try to get the spent fuel
rods out of Reactor 4?

Here is the first installment of a recap of what happened 10/17/13 after
the vigil

Cornelia Sullivan, from Pax Christi Boston, and Sheila Parks from On Behalf
of Planet Earth, met for about 40 minutes today with three women from the
Japan Consulate, Boston. We brought them a plant and many many peace
cranes. We apologized for Hiroshima and Nagasaki and that Fukushima is a
GE/USA product. We talked about our own herstories vigiing for years at
Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, MA, against nuclear weapons and that we are
long time peace workers in many arenas. We talked about the distrust we had
for our own USA government re Fukushima as well as TEPCO and the Japanese
government. We told them we were there because we believe that this dire
crisis does not belong to Japan, it is a worldwide tragedy and horror and
needs an international global response - experts, etc. And that the world
needs Japan to cooperate and collaborate with others, not only those of
their own choosing. We did talk first and then we listened, and then had a
conversation. We gave them copies of the handouts we had used at the vigil
last week and then today. Helen Caldicott and Arnie Gundersen et al letter
to Secretary General of the UN and Harvey Wasserman's "14,000 Hiroshimas
Still Hang in the Fukushima Air." We asked for an appointment with the
Consul General. More forthcoming about it all, but not tonight. Many thanks
