The Militant Labor Forum
Presents:
Cuba: An African Odyssey, Part II
A film and discussion
   Friday,
January 17, 7:30 pm

Important chapters in Cuba’s
long history of support to liberation struggles in Africa are brought to life
in the 2008 documentary film Cuba,
An African Odyssey.
The film describes Cuba’s internationalist missions in which
hundreds of thousands of volunteers—combatants and military trainers, as well
as doctors, nurses, teachers, and construction workers—gave decisive aid to
struggles in Africa against colonialism,
neocolonialism, and apartheid.
   The three-hour film is
divided into two parts. Part 2, which we
will be watching, highlights Cuba’s role in Angola and in particular the defeat
of the invading apartheid army of South Africa in Angola and the historic
changes that defeat lead to in southern Africa.
The film will be followed by a short
presentation and discussion.
