*Communal Reading of Frederick Douglass' Speech, "What to the Slave is the
4th of July?"*
*When*: June 4th at 12pm
*Where*: 54th Regiment Memorial, Boston Common (Across from State House)

Join us for an alternative 4th of July celebration, a communal reading of
Frederick Douglass' famous 1852 speech, "What to the Slave is the 4th of
July?"
This even will give an opportunity for community members to gather and read
the speech together, and to reflect upon the meaning of the speech in the
current day.
This event is hosted by Community Change, Inc., Mass Humanities, and the
Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice, and is
co-sponsored by several community organizations. The full list can be found
here. <http://communitychangeinc.org/node/344>
