In May, the New York based Zenith Healthcare Group took over the former
Golden Living Nursing Home of Lexington. Zenith CEO Ari Schwartz
implemented brutal cuts that have hurt 1199SEIU caregivers and seniors,
including outrageous 40%-60% pay cuts and hiking the cost of family health
insurance to $18,000 per year for low-wage employees.
While workers don't want to strike, they are being forced to by Zenith's
disregard for community standards and quality care. That's why caregivers
have unanimously voted to strike. Your support could make a difference

Lermond Metelus, a Certified Nursing Assistant with 25 years of service at
the facility, suffered a pay cut of approximately 50% overnight. "We
already didn't have enough staff at this facility, and now they're going to
drive out anyone remotely qualified to care for many seniors who call it
home," he said.
The struggle of Lexington caregivers against Zenith has been covered in The
and other outlets
No one should have to suffer these callous cuts after devoting their lives
to the service of the most vulnerable members of our society. We hope
you'll join us on Monday.
