The outcome of the massive nonviolent demonstrations for greater democracy in Hong Kong on the eve of President Obama's summit with President Xi, could have enormous impacts on U.S.-Chinese relations. If constructive resolved it could contribute to efforts to improve relations and reduce tensions between the two superpowers. If it ends with violence and repression, we should expect still greater U.S.-Chinese tensions.
To learn more about the dynamics, opportunities and potential dangers in U.S.-Chinese relations, and how Hong Kong affect them, plan to join us October 21 for talks by Prof. Robert Ross of Boston University and Duncan McFarland of United for Justice and Peace.
7-9 p.m., Eceuentro 5, 9 Hamilton Place, in Boston (1 block from Park St. Station, next to the old Orpheum theater.)?
