*Drapetomania: Grupo Antillano and the Art of Afro-Cuba
*

Drapetomanía had been described as “one of the best visual arts exhibits
of the last few years.” Recently arrived from a showing in Havana, this
assemblage of compelling imagery celebrates a group of artists working
from the late 1970s and 1980s.

The Hutchins Center for African and African American Research supports
research on the history and culture of people of African descent the
world over and provides a forum for collaboration and the ongoing
exchange of ideas. It seeks to stimulate scholarly engagement in African
and African American studies both at Harvard and beyond, and to increase
