Better Future Project

Dear friends,

Cape Wind made history when it was first proposed
in 2001. Now, 14 years later, the nation’s
first offshore wind farm is in trouble. Last
month, National Grid and NSTAR withdrew their
commitments to purchase power from Cape Wind.
Their decision jeopardizes the future of Cape
Wind -- and the future of offshore wind in the United States.

At the same time we're being told that our
state's energy needs require the construction of
a massive new gas infrastructure -- huge
pipelines, multiple compressor stations, even a
new gas-fired electric plant -- that would commit
us to increasing our use of fossil fuels for decades.

We need wind turbines, not gas pipelines -- and
we need to start by building Cape Wind!

Marcy Reed, President of National Grid in
Massachusetts, has been an outspoken supporter of
offshore wind in the past, and she has the power
to rescue the project. By reinstating National
Grid’s contract to buy 50% of the wind farm's
power, Marcy Reed can save Cape Wind and help
put Massachusetts on the path to a clean energy future.Â

PS: Our fight for a clean energy future goes
beyond the effort to save Cape Wind. We're also
fighting against fossil fuels by calling for
divestment of the state pension fund from oil,
coal and gas, and we've got
