*Water & Human Rights Workshop*
*April 21, 2015, 5:30 p.m.*
*@encuentro5, 9A Hamilton Place, Boston, MA 02108*
The situation is dire: long-range droughts facing California, ballooning
shutoffs in Baltimore & Detroit, and with rising seas, rising bills. The
global picture is no better; drought and flooding tie together such
disparate places as Pakistan, Brazil and Russia. A Sao Paulo resident
likened the situation to "a horror film, no one seems to agree on anything"
and neighbor challenges neighbor. But people are organizing!
Our workshop brings the issue home - to Massachusetts:
- what's happening in Boston
- the national situation
- human rights tools
- impacts of climate change
- racial and economic justice consequences
We finish with plans for involving communities in protecting everyone's
access to safe, affordable and sufficient water. The workshop is part of
"the Color of Water" project and the campaign to ensure that the water
keeps flowing to every household.
This two-hour workshop includes a light dinner, notes and web-based
resources. Workshop spaces are limited; please RSVP by replying to this
email or leaving a voice mail with your name, email address, and phone
number at 888-400-1225. For more information, please contact Suren Moodliar
