Prof. Miriam Diaz is a Venezuelan scientist, who is a specialist in
tropical ecology and a researcher on mitigation strategies for the
effects of climate change. She is in the US invited by the AAAS
(American Association for the Advanced in Science) for their annual
awards meeting in DC.

Dr. Diaz is knowledgeable about the catastrophic environmental
consequences of El Nino in Venezuela, and will provide an accurate
picture of the critical situation on the ground, which has to do with
severe drought, loss of harvests, contributing to the scarcity of
agricultural products. She will also explain the programs or strategies
that scientist, academic and public institutions are doing to mitigate
