Whistle blower Christopher Aaron will speak about his experiences as an
analyst for the drone assassination program in Iraq and Afghanistan from
2006 to 2009 and excerpts from the film "Drone”. Aaron is a former
counter-terrorism officer for the CIA and the DoD. He resigned in 2009 due
to ethical objections with the trajectories of the wars. After the
presentation, there will be plenty of time for questions as well as
suggestions for what citizens can do to stop the drone assassination
program.

Sponsored by the Eastern Massachusetts Anti-Drones Network and the Boston
Branch of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF).

Webnair: THE EVICTION EPIDEMIC

http://bit.ly/EvictionEpidemic_Desmond

Homes for All is hosting a national dialogue with author Matthew Desmond,
black women leaders of Homes For All and other leaders from Homes For
All to discuss the eviction epidemic and solutions to mass displacement.

In Matthew Desmond's NY Times bestseller EVICTED: Poverty And Profit
In The American City
<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=M0PgCaVS8M42nuM8lxbGwnpyWwumEZzq>,
he highlights that the impact and destruction of eviction on Black women
and is analogous with the impact of mass incarceration on Black men
in the United States. Eviction, he argues, is not a symptom of poverty but
a leading cause of poverty that we must tackle to win greater equality for
all people.

Join hundreds for a participatory national discussion with author Matthew
Desmond and Homes For All Leaders!
<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=BQiFKlju6mduBiYEo1ROeXpyWwumEZzq>

In our communities we've experienced firsthand this truth. Black women are
more likely to face eviction, housing discrimination and harrassment.
Eviction records impact access to future housing, jobs, credit, schools,
cars. It is a vicious, racist & sexist cycle keeping individuals and
communities stuck in poverty for generations.

We also know that Black women, in particular, have been leaders
on the front-lines of movements to fight against evictions, gentrification
& mass displacement. They are boldly risking arrest in D.C. to protest
Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac
<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=9ul%2B9Vzjz6%2FMD3J8B%2BzNunpyWwumEZzq>,
organizing mass tenant associations, and are often the most vocal advocates
against evictions and for winning long-term collective control of land,
housing & resources in our communities. Homes For All's core principles
include that we believe that communities most impacted bythe crisis must
be the leaders of our collective resistance. To us that means black women
must be heard, seen and supported as core leaders of our movement.

Since its release, Matthew Desmond has been touring the country
helping to bring significant attention to the eviction crisis
facing the #RenterNation we outlined in our Rise Of The Renter Nation report
<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=%2ByEt5lF1farKmkKFEFN8dXpyWwumEZzq>
in
2014.

In a recent NY Times Editorial called 'The Eviction Economy
<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=zJilbIdEsogWbpTQGy3tynpyWwumEZzq>',
Desmond writes: "A national affordable housing program would be an
anti-poverty effort, human capital investment, community improvement plan
and public health initiative all rolled into one. It would especially
benefit mothers and children, the face of today’s eviction epidemic."

I hope you can join us!
