Dear All,

Union member Mayli reported sexual harassment and racial discrimination by
her supervisor to Harvard managers and HR. They accused her of lying, and
allowed the boss to retaliate by cutting her hours and pay in half, making
her job as difficult as possible, isolating her from co-workers, and
targeting her for unfair discipline. Her pleas for a new supervisor were
ignored. When she complained about the boss's retribution to officials
including Pres. Drew Faust, she was threatened with termination for
speaking out. Just a few days after this threat, Mayli was fired after 10+
years of service. The only new "offense" in her termination letter was that
she was allegedly in the workplace half an hour *early*. She was marched
out of her workplace by uniformed Harvard cops, carrying guns, in front of
all her colleagues.

This Thursday, 4/26, at 12:30 pm, Mayli's supporters will picket her former
workplace at the Smith Campus Center, 1350 Mass Ave, Cambridge (close to
the Harvard Square Red Line MBTA stop). Please join us as we demand justice
for Mayli!

Sponsors include the Harvard College RAD Collective, Harvard No Layoffs
Campaign, Harvard TPS Coalition, Our Harvard Can Do Better, Student Labor
Action Movement (SLAM), and the Trans Task Force (please be in touch to add
your org).

Harvard has cruelly challenged Mayli's claim for unemployment benefits and
she is currently without income. You can support this first-generation
single mom of two here <https://www.gofundme.com/DefendMayli>. Please feel
free to forward this message as widely as possible.

In Solidarity,

Geoff Carens, Union Rep, HUCTW / AFSCME Local 3650
