Knowing clearly what causes climate change will help us understand what 
must be done and by knowing more, we can stop the devastation. Dr. Rosen 
will describe the basic set of mitigation actions that must be taken in 
each main sector of the economy – buildings, transportation, industry, 
food and agriculture by 2040, or sooner.

• */Rich Rosen/ *has a doctorate in physics from Columbia University, 
and worked as a post-doc at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies in 
New York City. After that he joined the energy systems analysis group at 
Brookhaven National Laboratory, a branch of the US Department of Energy. 
In 1977, he founded the Tellus Institute with graduate student friends 
to work on energy and environmental policy issues, and then moved to 
Boston, where he worked for the next 38 years. Currently, Rich works 
almost daily on the economics of mitigating climate change, frequently 
commenting to the IPCC on their draft reports.
