REMINDER - This Sunday (6/14): "CCB Soapbox Sunday" - Annual Meeting
Postponed until September 13th
*CCB Sunday: June 14 11 AM*
*Annual Meeting Postponed until September 13th.*
*“Soapbox Sunday”*
*Dear CCB Friends*,
Our sincerest hope is that each one of you is safe, secure, with faith
in your heart for a better world, even in the midst of such planetary
chaos, leadership vacuum, and righteous struggle in the streets.
By decision of the board, our *Annual Meeting has been postponed until
September 13*. Our hope is that things will be such that we can have a
physical meeting then, with a Zoom component for those who cannot be
present in Copley Square.
We have reached the end of our 2019-2020 season. It was to be our grand
One Hundredth Anniversary Celebration, filled with festive commemorative
and celebratory events. Somehow, all of that got postponed, and the
planning for more of the same in the fall has been hampered by all of
the uncertainty. Please know that this is a postponement, not a
cancellation. We all need to learn about the pause button: the sweet
music we were listening to, before the urgent distraction, will be
waiting for us when we get back to it, sweet as when we first played it.
I think we should have a pause every year: a PPP (Pandemic Preparedness
Procedure), where the nations come together to understand how to be
ready to handle what nature increasingly throws at us: plagues, floods,
fires, earthquakes, tsunamis...there we will learn how to become truly
resilient in a planetary way. Maybe it should also be another kind of
PPP (Planetary Peace Protocol), where the nations resolve to, once a
year, come together to dream and scheme for the elimination of the
weapons of war that we build against each other. What do you think: A
PPP (planetary pause period) for one week out of the year? Can we think
these thoughts and act on them?
First though, there is a PPP (Pathetic Pustulent President) to get rid
of. Oops, sorry, we are not supposed to engage in PPP( petty partisan
politics).
Instead of the annual meeting, will you join us this Sunday, June 14, at
11 AM online, for a "Soapbox Sunday"? During this pause, I have tried
to be in touch with as many of you as I could, and this I know: It has
been really difficult, for every one of us. Let's check in on Sunday,
and have a round table, open mic, sacred circle. We can hear from each
of you, for as long as it needs to take. We might get an update on some
exciting church news, and some not so exciting financial
prognostications. I might get us to sing a song or 3. Will you join us
by video or by phone? Here is the link:
